We believe in giving you full control over your personal data and privacy. If you want to take a break from job hunting, or permanently remove your data from TestGorilla, you can manage these choices directly within your account settings.
This guide walks you through the options available in your profile, including pausing your job search, turning off marketing emails, or permanently deleting your account.

Managing your privacy without deleting
Deleting your account is permanent and irreversible. If you don't want to lose your assessment history or skills verification, you have two lighter options:
Pause my job search: Hides your profile from employers and stops job matches and job search notifications. Your profile, verified skills, results and applications stay saved. It's the first option you'll see when you click Delete account.
Turn off marketing emails: Go to Settings > Notifications and switch off Marketing emails to stop tips, job recommendations and product news.
Neither option deletes anything from your account.
How to delete your candidate profile
If you still wish to delete your account, you can complete the self-serve deletion process directly from your account settings.
Step-by-step deletion guide
Log in to your TestGorilla Profile.
Click your initials in the top right corner and select Settings.
On the Account info tab, click Delete account.
Step 1 of 4, "Need a break from job hunting?": You can choose Pause my job search instead. To keep going, click Continue to delete.
Step 2 of 4, "Here's what you'll lose": Review what will be permanently removed: your profile visibility, verified skills, live applications and skill badges. Click Continue to delete.
Step 3 of 4, "What made you decide to leave?": Pick the reason that fits best and click Continue to delete.
Step 4 of 4, "Delete your account?": Type DELETE in the confirmation box and click Delete my account. Your account is deleted straight away and you're signed out.
What happens when you delete your profile
When you complete the self-serve deletion process, your account details and personal data are permanently removed.
Here is a breakdown of what gets removed and what happens to your test records:

Identity verification and fraud prevention data
To maintain platform integrity and ensure fair testing, TestGorilla enforces retake cooldown limits.
When you delete your account, your identity verification session link (managed via our verification partner, Veriff) is retained internally in a restricted system for 3 months before being purged. This record contains no active profile details and exists solely to prevent misuse, such as recreating accounts to reset assessment attempt cooldowns.
Deleting your profile doesn't reset your identity verification. You can't verify another account with the same ID for 3 months.
Common questions
Can TestGorilla restore my account after I delete it?
No. Account deletion via the self-serve wizard is immediate and permanent. Once confirmed, your profile data, uploaded documents, and personal skill credentials cannot be recovered.
Will employers I applied to still see my assessment scores?
No. Deleting your account removes your assessment results along with the rest of your data, and withdraws any application still in progress.
What happens if I pause my job search?
Your profile is hidden from employers and job alerts stop, but your profile, verified skills, results and applications stay saved. To stop marketing emails, switch off Marketing emails under Settings > Notifications.
Why do I need to type "DELETE" to confirm?
Because account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, typing "DELETE" ensures that the action is deliberate and prevents accidental account removal.
