What is the AI Fluency Badge?

The AI Fluency Badge is a binary, verified signal on a candidate's TestGorilla profile. While many resumes claim "AI proficiency," this badge provides employer-trusted proof grounded in psychometric science.

For candidates, it is a portable credential that highlights your ability to use AI to deliver work outcomes. For recruiters, it serves as a reliable filter to identify AI-capable talent instantly without manually reviewing every CV.

The 5-pillar AI framework

The badge is not based on a single score, but on a structured framework developed by our Science team. To earn the badge, you must score at or above the 75th percentile on at least 3 of the 5 AI Fluency pillars:

Pillar

What it measures

Applied AI Use & Workflows

Technical execution, prompt engineering, and task decomposition.

Learning & Digital Agility

Speed of upskilling and experimental iteration with new tools.

Systems Thinking

Reasoning about the downstream effects of AI-driven decisions.
Responsible & Ethical AI
Identifying bias and documenting safeguards.
Human-AI Collaboration

Managing transparent handoffs in hybrid human-AI teams.

How to earn the badge

Currently, the primary path to earning your badge is the AI Readiness Interview.

Prerequisites

  • ID Verification (IDV): You must complete TestGorilla's ID verification process before you can access the AI Readiness Interview.

  • Time: The interview takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.

The Interview Process

  1. Navigate to your Home page: Look for the AI Fluency Badge checklist item.

  2. Acknowledge the Retest Lock: You must explicitly agree to a 3-month retest lock. If you do not earn the badge, you cannot try again for 90 days.

  3. Complete the Interview: You will respond to structured prompts designed to measure the five pillars.

  4. Instant Results: Your results—and your badge status—are updated immediately after completion.

Maintaining your badge status

The AI Fluency Badge is a live state, not a permanent award. Because your latest results per pillar always prevail, it is possible to gain or lose the badge over time.

  • Retesting: If you retake the assessment after your 3-month lock and your scores drop below the qualifying threshold, the badge will be removed from your profile.

  • Notifications: You will receive an in-app notification and an email whenever your badge status changes (awarded or removed).

Sharing your achievement

Once you've earned your badge, you can share it with your professional network. From your Test Results page or the award notification, you will find a prompt to add your AI Fluent credential to your LinkedIn profile.

Common questions

Does my score from a previous employer's test count?

In the current version, only the self-serve AI Readiness Interview counts toward the badge. Results from customer-specific assessments do not currently affect your badge status.

What happens if I fail the interview?

You will not receive the badge, and a 3-month lock will be placed on the AI Readiness Interview. You can use this time to build your skills and try again once the lock expires.

Why is the threshold set at the 75th percentile?

The badge is designed to be an elite signal. By requiring a score in the top 25% of candidates for at least 3 pillars, we ensure the badge remains a credible mark of high proficiency for recruiters.

Can I hide my badge?

Yes. Currently, you can opt-out by choosing not to share your profile or results.
