This guide illustrates how the candidate profile is an active Vetting Agent in your application process.
After completing your skills validation, you are probably curious to see your results, but your candidate profile is so much more. Troubleshooting your resume upload
It's understandable to feel a bit stuck when a file upload isn't working as expected. Here's a quick troubleshooting guide to help you out:
-
Resume format: Double-check that your file is in an accepted format. TestGorilla typically supports common document types for file uploads, including:
- DOC/DOCX (Microsoft Word documents)
- File size: Large files can sometimes cause issues. Try to keep your file size as manageable as possible. The maximum file limit is 400 MB try uploading a smaller file first to see if that resolves the problem.
-
Internet connection: A stable internet connection is crucial for successful uploads. If your connection is slow or unstable, it can interrupt the process. Consider these steps:
- Run a quick internet speed test to ensure you have a reliable connection (ideal minimums are 1.5 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload).
- If possible, use an Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi for better stability.
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router to improve signal strength.
- Avoid using public Wi-Fi networks if you have other options, as they can often be less reliable.
-
Browser issues: Sometimes, your web browser itself can cause upload problems.
- Clear cache: Accumulated temporary data can interfere. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies, then restarting your browser.
- Try a different browser: If clearing the cache doesn't work, try uploading the file using a different web browser (e.g., if you're using Chrome, try Firefox or Edge).
- Disable browser extensions: Some browser extensions (like ad-blockers or JavaScript blockers) can interfere with upload processes. Try disabling them temporarily and then reattempting the upload.
- File corruption: Ensure the file you're trying to upload isn't corrupted. Try opening and viewing the file on your computer to confirm it's accessible. If you can't open it, the file might be damaged.
- File in use: Make sure the file you're trying to upload isn't currently open or being edited in another application. If a file is in use, it might be locked and unable to be uploaded.
- Special characters in document name: While many systems handle them, some special characters or unusually long document names can cause issues during upload. Try renaming the resume document to something simple, using only alphanumeric characters, and avoid leading or trailing spaces.

For new assessment invitations, you can click "Go to assessment" to start the assessment directly from your Talent profile. If you have already completed an assessment, you can click "View results" to review your results and, if possible, share to your LinkedIn profile.
Understand your test result
Your test results are more than just numbers—they're a way to showcase your unique skills and stand out to employers based on what you can actually do. When you complete a test, your profile is updated with verified data that helps you own your career journey.
| Note: You are not able to review the exact questions and answers. Keep in mind that these are just raw results and do not reflect any decisions made by the employer. |
What your scores mean
Instead of traditional "pass or fail" marks, we provide insights into your performance to help you understand your strengths:
- Percentile rank: Most results show how you performed compared to other candidates who took the same test. For example, scoring in the 92nd percentile means you performed better than 92% of all test-takers in that specific category.
- Diverse metrics: Some tests, like typing speed, provide direct measurements such as words per minute (wpm) and accuracy percentage. While personality tests do not yield a "score," but rather identify your dominant traits and behavioral style to provide a holistic view of your professional profile.
- Verified results: These scores are objectively measured and verified by TestGorilla, giving recruiters a clear and fair view of your capabilities beyond what’s written on a resume.
- ➡️ Learn more: Introducing AI test feedback to get personalized, plain-language insights into your performance, strengths, and specific growth areas.
| Note: If you’ve previously taken personality tests and your results differ from what you got in the skills validation, don’t stress! External factors can affect the answers you select, so taking a personality test in your free time versus taking one for a possible job may result in different answers. But, the answers still reflect your personality. |
Starting/resuming a skills validation
In addition to viewing the results of your skills validation, you can review all skills validations you’ve had interactions with. For example, if you are invited to a skills validation and take a break, you can also use the TestGorilla Profile interface to pick up where you left off.
- Once logged in, locate the skills validation with the Invited status and click on it.
- In the skills validation overview, click on the Start assessment button to start taking the remaining tests easily.
Taking the skills validation will continue in the same way, meaning it will open in a separate window, and the results will be sent to the company whose job you are applying for once you complete it.
What’s next?
While you have access to your results, it's important to remember that this doesn't guarantee your advancement in the hiring process. You also can’t compare your results to those of other candidates to protect the privacy of other candidates and allow the company to make fair decisions.
At TestGorilla, we firmly believe that accessing your scores is valuable! These scores can serve as tools designed to highlight your strengths and areas of potential development. With our new AI test feedback, you can receive a structured report that explains these strengths and provides concrete steps to help you grow. Still, please keep in mind that achieving a certain score doesn’t signify anything unless the company you applied to makes you aware of that. For example, while you might have a high score on a test, there may have been candidates with even higher scores.
We acknowledge that it can be disappointing if your scores don't perfectly align with the expectations of a particular employer. However, your results may reveal some hidden gems: skills you can be proud of, personality traits you weren’t aware of, or valuable insights into areas for personal growth. Our platform isn't just a tool for companies; it's also a resource for you to assess your skills and identify areas where you can improve and grow!

I can’t see my results.
The employer may have disabled automatically directing you to the TestGorilla Profile login page upon completion of the skills validation. The decision is made at the employer's discretion.
I don’t have access to the skills validation.
This is something in the control of the company you applied to. It could be that they have already closed their skills validation. You will need to contact the employer, as TestGorilla cannot make the skills validation available if a company has chosen to take it offline.
