Some assessments will include qualifying questions. Qualifying questions are asked at the beginning of an assessment to give the company more information about you before you start the assessment.
What are qualifying questions?
Qualifying questions are multiple-choice questions presented before the assessment begins. They are designed to help employers filter out candidates who don’t meet the minimum requirements for the job posting. These requirements can include candidates who speak a specific language, their highest level of education, or if they possess the required certification to do the job at hand.
At most, there are 5 qualifying questions. These questions are not timed.
Qualifying questions are always in one of two formats:
- True/false
- Multiple-choice
Why does a company use qualifying questions?
Some jobs require specific things that a candidate must have, regardless of how great they are. Qualifying questions can help determine if you as a candidate satisfy the minimum requirements for a position before you take the assessment — saving both you and the employer time.
Why could I not complete the assessment once I answered the questions? Why was I disqualified?
If you cannot complete the assessment once you answer the qualifying questions, that means one of your answers has disqualified you.
If you believe you have been disqualified by mistake, you should directly contact the company that invited you. TestGorilla has no authority to allow you to retake the assessment.
What happens if I was disqualified?
If one of your answers disqualifies you, the assessment will end, saving you time. If this specific role isn’t a good fit, you can still explore other positions with the same company or apply elsewhere. Our job board is a ready resource to assist you in your job search.
