TestGorilla's self-testing feature allows you to take individual tests and display the results directly on your TestGorilla Profile. Whether you're brushing up on existing skills, demonstrating new ones, or simply highlighting your expertise, this feature gives you the flexibility to stand out to potential employers without needing to be invited to take an assessment.
With self-testing, you control which tests to take, and when to take them. It’s your skills, your way.
How it works
To begin taking a self-initiated test, log in to your TestGorilla Profile, click on Skill tests, and select tests that match the skills you want to showcase. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the test.
Once you complete a self-test, you will be automatically redirected back to your TestGorilla Profile to view your test results.
From here, clicking on Test results at the top of the page will let you see your latest test results. If you have taken a test multiple times, only your most recent result will appear on your profile.
A Verified Result indicates that you have completed this test within the last 3 months.
An Expired Result indicates that it has been more than 24 months since you last took this test.

Common questions
What kind of tests should I take to improve my skills profile?
TestGorilla offers a variety of tests to demonstrate your abilities. If you intend to geographically expand your job search, consider attempting language skill tests as well as tests that encompass a variety of soft skills, and hard skills relevant to your desired job.
How will my test results be used by recruiters?
All of your test scores appear in your skills profile and are visible to recruiters if you choose to make your profile visible. Recruiters use these scores to assess your qualifications and skills for the positions they are hiring for and may invite you to apply for relevant job opportunities.
Can I retake a test if I’m not satisfied with my score?
You can retake each individual test 3 months after your last attempt. Your most recent score appears in your profile, even if it’s lower than your previous score. We encourage you to carefully prepare before attempting tests to maximize your score. Visit our candidate support center for resources to help you prepare.
How long does it take to get my test results?
Test results are ready within a few minutes after you complete a test. You can find them in your TestGorilla profile and the Test results section.
How do I know which skills I should focus on for the best job matches?
Consider the roles you're aiming for and prioritize tests that align with key skills in those fields. Additionally, you can look at the skills commonly included in job postings and tailor your tests accordingly.
Can I update or improve my skills profile over time?
Yes, you can continuously update your skills profile by taking more tests. As you gain new skills, completing additional tests can highlight your growth and increase your visibility to recruiters.
How do I ensure that recruiters see my profile?
Turn on the Recommend me to jobs option in your TestGorilla profile. This setting acts as a consent to share your profile with potential recruiters.
To further increase your visibility, ensure that your profile is complete with relevant skills tests, an updated resume, and detailed job preferences. This information helps recruiters find and invite you to relevant jobs based on your qualifications.
What happens if I don’t score well on a test?
Don't worry! You can retake the test after 3 months and take other tests to balance your profile. Recruiters look at a range of skills and attributes, so a single low score won’t necessarily hurt your chances.
How secure are my data and test results?
Your personal information and test results are secure with TestGorilla. We use industry-standard encryption, and only authorized recruiters have access to your profile. Your data is never shared with third parties without your consent.
Can I take tests on my mobile device or tablet?

Can I pause a test and resume it later?
Answer: Generally, tests must be completed in 1 session. Make sure you set aside enough time before starting. However, if you encounter any technical difficulties, reach out to TestGorilla support, and we can assist you with potential options. If you would like to take a break, check out Taking breaks during assessments.
How can I track my progress or see past test results?
All your completed tests and results appear in the Test results section. This section includes a breakdown of your scores, the skills tested, and the dates on which you completed each test.
Can I hide scores from specific tests from recruiters?

What happens if I don’t finish the test?

You can retake the test after 3 months and take other tests to balance your profile. Recruiters look at a range of skills and attributes, so a single low score won’t necessarily hurt your chances.
